ILLAWARRA Cable Services and Lithgow Cable Repairs have joined with national electronics and electrical engineering company Ampcontrol to create one of the largest cable repair businesses in Australia.

The Illawarra and Lithgow companies will become part of the service division of a company which will have service facilities in the Hunter Valley, Wollongong, Moranbah, Mackay and Perth.

The latest move expands Ampcontrol's service to coalmines in southern and western NSW.

That means it is able to provide cable services to all major mining regions on Australia's east coast.

Illawarra Cable Services has operated in the region for more than 15 years and will continue to operate from existing facilities. Customers will now have the benefit of local knowledge along with the strength and support of a national company.

Ampcontrol's head office is located in Newcastle where its growth has tripled during the past five years.
